It's the perfect time of the year to build up your self-esteem and grow your inner support to help you survive the chaos of your divorce and post-divorce life.
Keep A Journal
Great for recording the daily grind and turmoil you're experiencing. Writing down your emotions allows you to deconstruct them, analyze them and clear them out of your system. You will be able to gain a clearer perspective on your divorce as begin the processing of healing. Start An Exercise Routine
Exercise is know to release endorphins which helps improve your overall mood. It is also known to help your overall health and improve your self-esteem. With the spring weather comes opportunities to return to outdoor activities. Walk around Town Lake, rent a kayak or even take a drive out to one of the amazing Texas State Parks for a hike. Austin is rife with new gym exercise opportunities. There are brand new yoga, boxing, pilates, cycle and stride studios you can try. A good resource of all the new places to workout is Austin Fitness Magazine or try a Class Pass. And, don't forget all the online options like Peloton you can use to create your own workout. It doesn't matter what you do, how fast you do it or how you measure up to the person working out next to you. Just try to move your body 15 to 20 minutes each day doing something you enjoy.
Learn A New Hobby
Didn't we all say we were going to learn something new during COVID? Spanish, cooking or knitting? If you were to focused on home schooling, making sure your wifi had a strong signal and setting up your home office those self-improvement projects might have fallen by the wayside. There's no time like the present to get started. Learning a new hobby requires concentration and focus. Ensuring you focus on something other than your divorce. Accomplishing something new improves your confidence and overall outlook. What about revisiting an old hobby. When was the last time you curled up with a good book that wasn't about divorce or baked your favorite bread from scratch. Participating in hobbies can help you find new communities, make new friends and even learn something new about yourself.
Spend Quality Time With Loved Ones
When you were married you may have found yourself spending time with your spouse or partner's friends more than your own. Maybe you sacrificed social time for the sake of your relationship.
